Development Examples
Past projects
Soybean sorting machine
client
Original Products
Development period
May 2015 - April 2021
Participating companies
Development Overview
Soybeans are essential to Japanese cuisine, but Japan's domestic soybean self-sufficiency rate is only 20%. The vast majority of soybeans are imported from overseas. With the simple theme of "Let's increase the self-sufficiency rate of domestically produced soybeans!", we collaborated with Takatsu Craft members and developed a product while listening to farmers' opinions, aiming to reduce the burden of sorting after soybean harvesting and provide an environment that makes planting easier for small-scale farmers.

Past projects
Kimchi Pot
client
Green Foods Atsumi Co., Ltd.
Development period
January 2022 - October 2022
Participating companies
Development Overview
A product developed in collaboration with a very popular pickle company in Kawasaki.
The client requested a gift of home-use kimchi containers to their VIP customers who frequently purchase their products. Leveraging Sowa Shibori Kogyo's advanced metal spinning technology, a beautifully curved form was created. The design is simple and blends seamlessly into any dining space. Sesame Factory was responsible for the shape design and promotional items.

Past projects
Fish bucket
client
Enoshima Aquarium Co., Ltd.
Development period
January 2022 - March 2023
Participating companies
Development Overview
As part of their efforts toward the SDGs, the Enoshima Aquarium considered reducing plastic waste and planned to achieve zero waste by changing the buckets used in shows and training from plastic to stainless steel, reducing the number of buckets discarded annually from approximately 80. Since buckets that met all the necessary hygiene and functional requirements were not available as off-the-shelf products, they were developed and manufactured in collaboration with Takatsu Craft.

Past projects
Finger safety cap
client
Rikazai Co., Ltd.
Development period
February 2022 - March 2023
Participating companies
Development Overview
At Rikazai, a manufacturer of thin metal foil, rolling is a crucial part of the production process, requiring workers to have high levels of concentration and advanced skills.
The material is passed through the gap between two large rollers, gradually thinning the board.
This is a two-person operation where one person "feeds" the material into the roller and the other "receives" it as it comes out.
Because the rolling process involves repeatedly passing the material through rollers, there is a risk of gloved fingertips getting caught. Due to the nature of the product handling, it is difficult to implement countermeasures on the equipment side, which is why we received this request for metal finger protection caps to avoid these risks.

Past projects
Commemorative gift for the 100th anniversary of Kawasaki City's founding (original pen holder)
client
To: City Promotion Office, General Affairs and Planning Bureau, Kawasaki City
Development period
September 2023 - July 2024
Development Overview
On July 1, 2024, Kawasaki City celebrated its 100th anniversary as a city.
To commemorate this, we were asked to create commemorative gifts for the ceremony attendees, and Takatsu Craft was in charge of everything from planning and design to manufacturing.
The original pen holder has a piece of iron embedded in its center, the last iron produced in the blast furnace of JFE Steel Corporation (formerly Nippon Kokan), which has been manufacturing iron in the Kawasaki coastal area for approximately 100 years. The Kawasaki City brand message is engraved on this iron.
We received material provision from JFE Steel Corporation's East Japan Works (Keihin area), and cooperation from the "Kawasaki Ward Revitalization Team!" for production.
